Solar Battery Storage

Solar Battery Storage

Making the most out of your solar panels means being able to use the produced electricity when it is cloudy, raining, or dark. After all, these are the times we most need light. Solar power battery storage is the perfect, smart, solution.

A great solution for collecting up the extra electricity that solar panels on an average household will produce.

In addition, battery storage isn’t just helpful when there is no sunlight to produce power. It is also great for collecting up that extra electricity that solar panels on an average household will produce. Most households will not use all of the electricity produced by the solar panels in one day. This means that the excess power can charge the battery, as well as be sold back to the national grid. Fully charged, the battery can then supply energy to your home using the excess supply.

What types of batteries are there?

There are two main types of batteries available

  • Lead Acid
  • Lithium (Lithium – Ion)

Lead Acid is very cheap to install but its inefficient and won’t last for long. So for this reason Lead Acid has all but disappeared from the Solar Storage market. Though the price of Lithium (ion or iron phosphate) is higher, it’s much better value.  It’ll last far longer and deliver more kWhs (units) during its lifetime.

Is solar battery storage right for my home?

If you have solar PV panels or are planning to install them, then using home batteries to store the electricity you’ve generated will help you to maximise the amount of renewable energy you use. Home-energy storage will also reduce the electricity you use from the grid, and cut your bill. If your home is off-grid, it can help to reduce your use of fossil fuel back-up generators.

The system will also enable you to store up electricity while it’s cheap (overnight, for example) so you can use it during peak times.

In recent years, there have been a number of developments in solar battery storage. This has made solar power a much more viable and reliable source of electricity and has smoothed out many of the challenges that early users faced.

Here at Green Pulse Energy Ltd, we supply different types of solar power battery and storage. For more information about which battery will be right for your existing system, or to have a full solar power system installed, get in touch today with the professionals here at Green Pulse Energy on 01206 701801. Full coverage of the Essex, Suffolk, Norfolk and surrounding areas.

8 Reasons To Choose Battery Storage

Power Cuts

In the event of a power cut, your batteries will keep your essential appliances powered

Reduce Bills

A domestic or commercial battery storage system can dramatically reduce your energy bills.

For Everyone

Batteries can be installed in any property – with or without solar panels.

Price Protection

As energy prices continue to rise, you can protect yourself by having free or off-peak energy ready to deploy at peak times.

System Monitoring

Our battery storage systems come with FREE wifi monitoring, enabling you to monitor and manage your energy.

Government Support

The government, Ofgem and National Grid are all supportive of domestic energy storage and future financial incentives are likely.

FIT Unaffected

Don’t worry! If you are registered for the FIT, adding batteries will have no impact on your payments.

Reduce Environmental Impacts

In simplest terms, energy storage enables electricity to be saved for a later, when and where it is most needed. This creates efficiencies and capabilities for the electric grid—including the ability to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.

Home battery storage or commercial battery storage means a greener lifestyle

You can never know exactly where your electricity comes from unless you generate it yourself. Sadly, a huge amount of UK energy comes from non-renewable sources. If you’re not using this, you’ll lower your carbon footprint – and if it were to be adopted on a wider scale, the UK could vastly reduce its fossil fuel emissions.

What are kilowatts and kilowatt-hours?

Watts, are a unit of power. A watt is a measure of amps and voltage combined. Voltage can be thought of as the amount of electrical pressure a conductor or circuit has; the force that pushes the electrons along the circuit. Amps are the speed at which electrons move past a given point.

Power (Watts) = Amps x Volts

Watts are used to define the amount of power that runs through a given power supply. A kilowatt (kW) is simply a thousand watts.

A kilowatt-hour (kWh) – much like an amp hour – is different from a watt. A kilowatt-hour is a measure of energy, so how much energy is consumed in a given period.
