Three months after export tariff ends only one supplier has an offer in place.
The Solar Trade Association has sent an open letter to energy suppliers including the big six asking them to put export tariff offers in place ahead of the Jan 1st, 2020 target.
Octopus Energy: is the only supplier to have an offer in place, no other supplier has yet joined them, even though it’s three months since the export tariff ended.
Yet consumer magazine Which? published research compiled from 2000 solar power owning members, reported that while ‘saving carbon and ensuring the use of renewable energy’ were the main reasons for investing in solar power the third reason was ‘making money from the Feed-in Tariff.’ Clearly gaining a fair price for any exported energy is important to system owners.
“There is a real appetite in the UK for domestic solar and storage; surveys show three in five people are keen to install these technologies on and in their properties at some point in the future”, said Chris Hewitt, STA Chief Executive.
The STA also state that their Smart Energy Guarantee pages are the most visited on their website with 500 hits per week – rising to 700 after the Which? article.
