Goodyear Tyres Goes Sustainable with 2.5MW Solar PV
Leading tyre manufacturer expects ROI in five years with 6’680 JA Solar Bifacial PERC 375W modules.
JA Solar Announced that they have supplied high-efficiency PERC bifacial double glass modules to Goodyear. For their largest rooftop solar PV project recorded under Malaysia’s net energy metering scheme.
The tyre manufacturing plant in Shah Alam, Selangor, has invested 30% of this years total capital expenditure in the project. They expect to get a ROI in 5 years, save US$1.6m and save 17% on energy consumption every day.
In addition to the monetary benefits, Goodyear state that improving financials and operations were important factors as well as reducing their carbon footprint.
They also expect to have excess electricity which will be channelled back to the grid.
