From 2nd to the 6th of July 2019, 33 teams (including 22 universities) will participate in the Monaco Solar & Energy Boat Challenge to imagine and build the yachting of tomorrow.
The program of this event: nautical events in the categories SOLAR Class (historic category of the challenge), OFFSHORE Class (parallel to the races in the bay of Monaco, the boats will have to join the Principality to Ventimiglia) and ENERGY Class (a new one-design class created by the Monaco Yacht Club in 2018, which provides the catamaran hulls to teams whose challenge is to design the most powerful and enduring propulsion system, using the renewable energy of their choice, all from a given amount of energy).
On the sidelines of the nautical events, the Yacht Club will organize Tech Talks as well as conferences in the idea of thinking about sustainable development issues in the nautical sector.
In the same spirit, the Monaco Yacht Club and its partners, in collaboration with the Mayor of Monaco, challenge all competitors to get as close as possible to “zero emissions” throughout the week by reducing the carbon footprint. For its part, the Y.C.M undertakes not to use fossil fuel powered boats during the entire week of this challenge.
